The chin is a very important feature especially when it comes to facial portions and harmony of the overall face. A well-balanced chin in a male or female can make them appear more attractive.
Females who have weak or retracted chins may benefit from have a chin that is lengthened or more rounded to give them a more feminine appearance. In males, a strong chin is generally regarded as an attractive feature. Both genders can have chin fillers to reduce the appearance of a chin dimple.
A thorough consultation is carried out by Dr Sandy and the chin is assessed alongside the rest of your features to figure out where the filler should be strategically placed. Dermal filler is placed using a needle or cannula (bendy needle) under the skin to help lift the tissues to contour and restore volume.
Depending on the result that needs to be achieved the chin can be projected outwards and/or lengthened.
The treatment is minimally invasive and well tolerated. Once the injection sites have been cleansed, numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort and once the cream has taken affect the injections are delivered in a slow and safe manor to minimise any discomfort. The dermal filler also contains anaesthetic so this continues to reduce discomfort as treatment progresses.
Results with cheek fillers are instant and they get better after a few weeks once the filler has fully integrated. Sometimes there can be mild swelling, redness or bruising and once this has settled the final result can be seen. Dr Sandy is always happy to arrange follow ups with patients should they feel they need them.
Dermal fillers in the cheeks last around 12-18 months depending on a patient’s lifestyle and metabolism. The filler naturally breaks down overtime and more can be added if needed.
Once treatment has been carried out, Dr Sandy will go through the aftercare and there is occasional risk of redness, bruising and swelling due to the face having many blood vessels. There is very rare risk of blocking vessels and this will be discussed in detail at your appointment.
