A thorough consultation is carried out by Dr Sandy and the delicate lip area is assessed alongside the rest of your features to figure out where the injection should be strategically placed. It is placed using a needle or cannula (flexible needle) sometimes both to get the perfect result.  

There is an instant plumping result and often the patient can leave the clinic with no or very little swelling.

The treatment is minimally invasive and well tolerated. Once the injection sites have been cleansed, numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort and the cream has taken effect the injections are delivered in a slow safe manor to minimise any discomfort.

An option of a dental block can also be offered to ensure that nothing is felt during the cosmetic lip injection treatment.  The injection also contains anaesthetic so this continues to reduce discomfort as treatment progresses. With all injectable treatments, the aim is to ensure patients are as relaxed and comfortable as possible.  

Results with lip injections are instant, however they get better after a few weeks once it has fully integrated. Sometimes there can be mild swelling, redness or bruising and once this has settled the final result can be seen.

Once the injection has been placed it takes 2-4 weeks to fully settle. Dr Sandy is always happy to arrange follow ups with patients should they feel they need them. 

If you have a very thin lips and would like to build them up it is very important to not overfill the lip area in one appointment. Patience is important to ensure that the you are respecting the natural anatomy. It often takes 6-9 months and a few appointments to build the lip if substantial yet natural results are required .

Results last around 12-18 months depending on a patient’s lifestyle and metabolism. They naturally break down overtime and more can be added if needed. 

Once treatment has been carried out, Dr Sandy will go through the aftercare and there is occasional risk of redness, bruising and swelling due to the face having many blood vessels.  There is very rare risk of blocking vessels and this will be discussed in detail at your appointment.
