Jawline Filler Treatment

Dermal Filler Treatment

Jawline sculpting using fillers offers multiple benefits. It can strengthen and define a weak jawline or soften a jawline to provide an overall enhanced look.

As we age, we lose volume in the lower face. Dermal filler can be used to disguise jowls that have occurred due losing the bone density in the jaw and sagging skin.  For some, fat can accumulate in the chin area causing the neck and jawline to blend together. Dermal fillers can be used to disguise the look of jowls and to create a more contoured look.

  • How is this achieved?

A thorough consultation is carried out by Dr Sandy and the jawline is assessed alongside the rest of your face to figure out where the filler should be strategically placed.

Dermal filler is then strategically placed using a cannula (bendy needle) or needle along the jawline to create better definition and restore harmony to the face.

Sometimes there are overactive muscles in the neck that can cause a less well-defined jawline; for this anti-wrinkle injections can be used. Dr Sandy will carry out a through consultation to diagnose any issues related to the jawline and plan treatment accordingly.

  • Is it painful?

The treatment is minimally invasive and well tolerated. Once the injection sites have been cleansed numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort. Once the cream has taken effect the injection is delivered in a slow safe manor to minimise any discomfort. The dermal filler also contains anaesthetic so this continues to reduce discomfort as treatment progresses.

  • How soon will I see results?

Results with jawline fillers are instant and they get better after a few weeks once the filler has fully integrated. Sometimes there can be mild swelling, redness or bruising and once this has settled the final result can be seen. Dr Sandy is always happy to arrange follow ups with patients should they feel they need them.

  • How long does the filler last?

Dermal fillers in the cheeks last around 12-18 months depending on a patient’s lifestyle and metabolism. The filler naturally breaks down overtime and more can be added if needed.

  • Are there side effects?

Once treatment has been carried out Dr Sandy will go through the aftercare and there is occasional risk of redness, bruising and swelling due to the face having many blood vessels.  There is very rare risk of blocking vessels and this will be discussed in detail at your appointment.

Antiwrinkle injections have very few side effects.  There is a small risk of bruising.
