Tear trough at its best, we were both delighted with these results. Subtle, but so impactful, she looks well rested and her under eyes and cheeks are seamlessly blended together. The hollows beneath our eyes if particularly deep can make us look tired and sometimes age us. A tiny amount of well placed filler can completely change the way you look. Healed lips 👄 I get asked a lot by my patients what healed lips look like, particularly, if they look fake. The lips shown in the picture are 4 weeks after treatment and this is the final result. Every injector is different and create their own unique style when injecting, for me it’s got to look natural every time. How can fillers look natural right? Tear trough filler This is a very delicate area and should be treated carefully. It is an advanced procedure for many reasons. It’s important to only inject very small amounts of filler here as overfilling can leave lumps, long term swelling and make the area appear worse. Patient selfie, just look at those lips 🥰 The shadows on this gorgeous lady’s lips are tiny bruises. Bruising after lip filler is normal. If a needle has been used then it is highly likely that you will bruise, the lips are a highly vascular (lots of blood flow) area. Bruises tend to subside after a few days and swelling reduces up to 30%. Sometimes I use a cannula which is a blunt ended bendy needle and this reduces the risk of bruising and swelling due to less entry points into the lips. Having said that sometimes a needle is necessary to get a crisp lip border or to add height to the Cupid’s bow. Whatever instrument I choose I always try and be gentle, after all beauty doesn’t have to be painful. Being honest One of the most important parts of the care I provide to my patients is being honest. This lovely lady came in for lip fillers and wanted 1ml. After a consultation I advised that her existing lip filler needed dissolving and we should start again. I use to find it difficult to tell patients this because I didn’t want to upset them. I have realised that in order to be a good injector you must recognise normal anatomy and always respect it. For this reason when I see a patient that has filler that has migrated or ‘duck lips’ I would always discuss dissolving them. There are many reasons why filler may not have a desirable result, it could be due to poor injection technique, type of filler used, patient anatomy, whatever the reason it should always be addressed. In the above case I dissolved the original filler (placed by another injector) and waited 3 weeks before placing 1ml. The ledge and puffy white appearance has gone and the lips look natural and anatomically normal (slight asymmetry). Rome was not built in a day This was one of the most challenging lip cases to date for me. There is such little lip structure to work with that I’ve had to take my time to evert these inverted lips into a beautiful natural shape. Lips come in all shapes and sizes, it is important that your injector respects your lip anatomy. Changes to shape and volume can be made but should be done gradually. If too much is injected at once then the anatomy can be destroyed and the filler can spread past the lip borders giving a very unnatural result. Here I built up the lips using 0.5ml increments over 9 months using a total of 1.5ml.
